SDI Xylene

Xylene is a colorless, sweet-smelling liquid that is very flammable. It occurs naturally in petroleum and coal tar and is formed during forest fires. The chemical properties differ slightly from isomer to isomer. The melting point is between -47.87 °C (m-xylene) and 13.26 °C (p-xylene). The boiling point is for each isomer at around 140 °C. The density is at around 0.87 kg/L and thus is less dense than water. Xylene in air can be smelled at 0.08 to 3.7 parts of xylene per million parts of air (ppm) and can begin to be tasted in water at 0.53 to 1.8 ppm.

Chemical industries produce xylene from petroleum. It is one of the top 30 chemicals produced in the United States in terms of volume. Xylene is used as a solvent and in the printing, rubber, and leather industries. p-Xylene is used as a feedstock in the production of terephthalic acid, which is a monomer used in the production of polymers. It is also used as a cleaning agent for steel and for silicon wafers and chips, a pesticide [1], a thinner for paint, and in paints and varnishes. It may be substituted for toluene to thin laquers where slower drying is desired. It is found in small amounts in airplane fuel and gasoline. In animal studies it is often swabbed on the ears of rabbits to facilitate blood flow and collection, although the area must subsequently be cleansed with alcohol to prevent inflammation.

With oxidizing agents, such as potassium permanganate (KMnO4), the methyl group can be oxidized to a carboxylic acid. By oxidizing both methyl groups towards the acid, o-xylene forms phthalic acid, whereas p-xylene forms terephthalic acid.

SDI Surface Aid

Surface Aid is made up of a strong blend of aromatic and ketone solvents and surfactants. It is used to restore heavily coated existing solvent based acrylic sealers that have started to soften, fade, peel, crack, delaminate, and deteriorate. Surface Aid also clears up white spots or blushing due to moisture content issues. Surface Aid melts the heavily coated existing solvent based acrylic sealer, and helps restore the original appearance without adding more acrylic to allow the sealer to wear off naturally over time without stripping the existing bulk of the coating. Surface Aid is recommended for use on heavily coated existing sealed surfaces where softening, fading, peeling, cracking, de-lamination, and deterioration has taken place and a new sealed look is desired without the need of additional acrylic.

SDI Acrylo Bond

Acrylo Bond is an acrylic copolymer emulsion designed specifically to blend with cementitious mixtures to greatly increase the bond strength as well as the flexural and tension strength of concrete and overlays contains no heavy metal additives or other environmentally harmful ingredients. AcryloBond is used as an adhesion additive to concrete and two component overlay products for driveways, bridges, decks, commercial flooring and spalled concrete repairs and similar areas where long term durability and low maintenance is a primary concern.

SDI Exposure

Exposure is a water soluble liquid specially formulated to set the surface mortar of fresh concrete to expose aggregates in freshly placed concrete surfaces. Exposure is green in color to allow for easy identification of applied areas and to ensure appropriate uniform coverage. Exposure should be used to acheive architectural color, texture, and appearance without mechanical means such as sandblasting. Superior Matrix Exposure. Highly Economical. Skid-Tex

An exclusive, non-skid compound, specially-formulated for easy mixing and application in all types of floor paints. Multifilament Polypropylene Fiber

All of multifilament polypropylene fibers are manufactured using 100 % virgin polypropylene.
